As we are in the midst of lockdown 3.0 it’s difficult to find the motivation to keep up your regular training. With no gradings or competitions in the near future to keep you going, it can be tough to get yourself up off the couch and onto the Zoom class for training.
This is where our commitment and discipline comes in and we make that choice to practice our Taekwon-Do consistently during this lockdown. Our tenets of Taekwon-Do courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit, are something we have said hundreds or thousands of times but must stop and really think about at times like these. We must persevere through this time and although Zoom classes aren’t the same as being physically at class, that is what we must do for now. Master Barry has always said we can train anywhere and now we are really testing that. We are sidekickin’ in our kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, etc but it’s still Taekwon-Do, it’s still beneficial for our physical and mental health and it’s still enjoyable! This pandemic is different for everyone and is tough for people but do remember your tenets of Taekwon-Do and try to use these through this strange time.
Commitment must be high when motivation is low; it’s a thought-provoking statement! If a person could bottle up motivation, they would be a millionaire! So what it comes down to is YOU, you making the choice to move your body today, to train Taekwon-Do today and making that choice day in and day out. With that consistency and discipline, comes the benefits! You make that choice!
